Wolf hoods over Newton ranges — wall canopies, island hoods and pro models with internal or remote blowers. Motor and speed control, filter and duct restriction, lights and switching.
In the caller's words
How it gets described
- The blower noticeably louder than it used to be at every speed
- Baffle filters rattling loose in the frame
- The hood running but pulling almost nothing off the back burners
- Lights dimming as the fan steps up a speed
On the visit
What gets measured
- Blower amp draw against the rating plate at every speed
- Baffle loading and the grease trough, before anything is blamed on the motor
- Damper flap travel at the hood and again at the wall or roof cap
- Duct run for crushed sections, long flexible lengths and reductions

Bands, not quotes. Where a job sits inside one comes down to the part, to whether the appliance has to come out to reach it, and to how that part is supplied for the model. You are given a single figure for parts and labour before anything is dismantled. A comparable new unit is $6,690–$18,570 for the appliance alone, before delivery, hookup or cabinetry.

The blower sits remotely up in the attic and none of us wanted to go anywhere near it. He did, found a seized capacitor and a nest of leaves packed in at the roof cap, and cleared out both. Extraction is back to what it was.

Lights dimmed every time the fan stepped up a speed, and it had been doing it for months. A shared connector had loosened and was arcing. He remade the connection and put in a new speed control switch.

The hood ran but pulled almost nothing off the back burners. He measured the duct and found a crushed section up in the ceiling from an earlier renovation. That run was replaced and the difference is obvious.
